Vasectomy Counseling and Procedures
A vasectomy is a procedure a man may undergo to achieve what is considered to be permanent birth control. It entails clamping, cutting or otherwise sealing the tubes from each testicle that allow sperm to mix with seminal fluid. A vasectomy only becomes effective after all existing sperm beyond the vasectomy site are gone. Pregnancy may still occur until the sperm count is at zero. Vasectomies do not protect against sexually transmitted diseases or HIV/AIDS.
THD offers vasectomy information and counseling in English and Spanish. THD offers the vasectomy services through contracts with community partners and the cost is based on eligibility requirements. Contact THD for additional information.
