Obtaining a Temporary Food Handler Permit

You may obtain a Temporary Food Handler Permit allowing you to work in a food service establishment as you await your food handler class date. Temporary permits expire in one week or on the date of the next available food handler class.

Temporary Food Handler Permit Information

Purchase your temporary permit at the location where you plan to attend your food handler class except for Broken Arrow and Bixby classes. Temporary permits for Broken Arrow classes may be purchased at the THD James Goodwin Health Center, 5051 S. 129th E. Ave. Temporary permits for the Bixby classes may be purchased at 8120 W. 126th St., Bixby.

Nonrefundable fee is $10 cash; no checks accepted.

Only one Temporary Food Handler Permit will be issued per applicant.

Failure to attend a food handler class on or before the temporary permit expires requires you to pay another $10.00 before you attend class.

House Bill 1804 Verification Requirements

House Bill 1804 went into effect on November 1, 2007. As a result, anyone attending a food handler class or applying for a manager's certificate from the Tulsa Health Department must sign a statement that they are either (1) a United States citizen, or (2) a qualified alien under the federal Immigration & Nationality Act and are lawfully present in the United States.
