Renewing your Food Handler Permit

Food Handler Permits expire three years from the date you purchase your food handler permit. There are two ways to obtain a renewal card:

  1. Attend another Food Handler Class and pass the examination.
  2. Pass a comprehensive Food Handler Class Waiver Test.  If you fail the Waiver Test, you must attend another food handler class in order to receive a new permit.

Food Handler Class Waiver Test Information

  • You must pass the test within 30 days of to your permit’s expiration.
  • Nonrefundable class fee is $10 cash; no checks accepted.
  • Call 595-4335 to pre-register.
  • Class size is limited to 50.
  • Waiver tests are available at the THD Expo Square Health Center location only.
  • Waiver tests are available only in English.
