Operating Activities

THDARC operates K5THD on a regular basis to enhance the operating skills of the club members. In addition to unscheduled operating sessions, the station is activated for disaster exercises, emergent events such as 2002's bout with West Nile Virus, 2003's SARS activity, 2005's Hurricane Katrina response, and 2007's Ice Storms, and, of course, for our annual World Health Day Special Event.

THDARC has sponsored a special event each April since 2002, and will be operating the station once again this April.  The purposes of the special events are to provide training opportunities for club members, to develop effective working relationships with other emergency response agencies, to enhance the capabilities of the Tulsa Health Department's EOC, and to enhance international goodwill.
