H1N1 Booster Vaccinations

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of one dose of 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine for persons 10 years of age and older. Children 9 years of age and younger will need a second dose of vaccine to be fully protected. Infants younger than 6 months of age are too young to get the 2009 H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines.

What is the recommended interval between the first and second dose for children 9 years of age and under?

CDC recommends that the two doses of 2009 H1N1 vaccine be separated by at least 28 days. The second dose of H1N1 vaccine can not be administered before 28 days.

Where can I get my child's booster vaccination?

Children 9 years of age and younger who need to receive a booster vaccination can receive their booster vaccination on a walk-in basis Mondays - Thursdays 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m - 11:00 a.m. at the following Tulsa Health Department locations. At this time, these three clinics are open to any person over six months of age who wishes to receive a H1N1 vaccination. Additionally, many private healthcare providers are now offering the H1N1 vaccination. You may also want to check vaccine availability with your child's pediatrician.
